The Best of the Classics...
When I grew up in South Florida there weren't as many boat manufacturers compared to now. A few of old those companies made some boats that in my opinion have become classics and set the standards; these boats were perhaps some of the best designed small to mid sized vessels ever made and frequently copied. Here are a few of those beauties:
Boston Whaler 13' 3” Simplicity at it's best; usually powered by a Mercury 40 HP, Johnson / Evenrude 33 or 40 HP. Some of these boats were modified by their owners to become the first “flats skiffs” along with the Willy Roberts, the first boats by Bob Hewes, Crosby Sleds and the old Woodsons. Additionally, the 13 Whaler was one of the safest and best recreational boats a kid (or adult) could have.

Seacraft 20' One of the first generation great center console fishing boats; this boat set the standard for center consoles and was probably copied more than any others. Usually powered with a Mercury 150 HP outboard. Classic 1971 model shown below was re-powered with Yamaha.

Formula 23' (long bow) 1962 - Formula founded by Don Aronow in Miami, Florida... In my opinion what the Ferrari 365 GTB (Daytona) and Jaguar XKE did to influence the future design and good looks for sport cars the 23' Formula did for boats. These boats set the standard for speed, beauty, durability and ride for mid size and express offshore fishing boats - she was built like a tank and usually powered with twin Mercruiser 160 HP V8 I/O's.

Bertram 31' A workhorse; the DC-3 of smaller offshore fishing boats... Few, if any other boats have had such a profound influence on the design of power boats as has the Bertram 31. The first boat design to use a Deep-V hull, it is arguably the most famous modern boat design ever built, the 31 Bertram has achieved a near cult status. Hundreds are still on the water and in use throughout the world.

Thanks for the compliment on our site... welcome aboard! 8)
I grew up in South Florida back in the good old days; living in Coral Gables and later in Coconut Grove. I now live in Islamorada with my wife and kids, where I've been a full time fishing guide for the past twenty two years.
