Lodging Florida City
Me and my friend Thomas are going to Orlando on a conference. Prior to the conference we are going to fish with Geoff in the Everglades for four days in late February. I guess the most convinient location is Florida City? Which hotel/motel is the best place to stay for us? Price is as always important, but it also have to be clean and secure. Any suggestions?

Stu, I haven't stayed in Florida City but pass through all the time on my way to the Keys. The Travelodge doesn't look too bad and a quick check online reflected reasonable rates (under $100/night). There's also a Best Western that looks to be about $115/night. With more research (try Google) you might be able to find something cheaper in Homestead, but that adds a little to your drive each morning.

I have had some anglers stay at the Holiday Inn Express; It's a relatively new hotel and clean. Here is a link to some of the Florida City hotels listed on this website:

There are also some decent restaraunts; especially some of the local Mexican restaraunts. There is a Publix supermarket close by and a brand new liquor store behind the Holiday Inn Express; you might need a drink after fishing with me for four days.

Hey where did you end up staying at? I am also taking a trip down there soon and want some good suggestions. Vacation cottages or hotels would be nice.
