Question Title What size / weight rod should I use for bonefish in the Florida Keys?

Bonefish in the keys are large; ranging from 61/2 pounds, with many from 10 lbs., up... so you'll need a rod with some backbone to handle these fish, along with a reel with a great drag. Most anglers use an 8 or 9 weight fly rod depending on the weather conditions. An 8 wt. is ideal, especially for the calmer days. For the windy days a 9 wt. is better. If you don't have the appropriate gear, I provide fly gear for my anglers; just be sure to let me know what hand you prefer to reel with.
