Question Title What is the best leader system for snook on fly?
As you know your leader selection has everything to do with the size of the fish you’re after, light conditions and water clarity. That being said, shock tippets for the larger tarpon can be fluorocarbon 50 to 60# max and perhaps you could even get away with 40#. For snook I would use 30 or 40# if necceaasry. I would tie standard big game leaders with 12 – 15# class tippets but I would tie the shock tippets extra long, like 30” so you can clip off flies without trashing the leader… Assuming you’re not looking for world records, conforming to IGFA standards shouldn’t matter.
