Question Title How is the fishing in the Keys in January and Febuary?
Permit and bonefishing (and tarpon) can be great in Jan and Feb but as in just about anywhere else in the tropics we can be subject to the tail end of numerous cold fronts making their way down from the north. It's not uncommon to have weeks of calm and warm conditions during that time period making for some of the best fishing of the year but a backup plan should always be considered in the event of a significant cold front with lots of wind dropping the water temps and compromising the bonefish and permit fishing. My anwser that that has always been snook fishing deep in the everglades which can be excellent in the event of a front.
